Our History
In the late 1970s, David Bateman embarked on his journey in the field of architectural design, initially gaining valuable experience by working with prominent architectural and engineering firms in Nova Scotia and New Brunswick. His passion for creating innovative and functional designs flourished during these formative years, laying the foundation for what would later become Custom Designing.
In the early 1980s, after honing his skills and acquiring extensive expertise, David Bateman decided to return to his roots in New Glasgow. Fueled by a vision of providing top-quality designs to the communities in and around Pictou County, he established Custom Designing as a sole proprietorship.
The doors of Custom Designing opened in the early 80s, marking the official beginning of a venture dedicated to the art and science of building design. David Bateman’s return to New Glasgow was not just a homecoming; it was a commitment to contribute to the architectural landscape of the region.
Throughout the 80s and 90s, Custom Designing flourished under David Bateman’s leadership. The firm became synonymous with quality and innovation in small commercial and residential building design.
Presently, David personally invests over 40 years of experience into each project, ensuring that every design is a testament to his commitment to excellence.
